About the Event
Join DAPS at our Annual Lifetime Achievement Award and Luncheon, followed by 1 FREE CEU for Social Workers. This Workshop is geared to those providing direct services to people living with Parkinson's Disease.
Purpose:
To identify the traditional and non-traditional roles that are impacted by compassion fatigue; recognize signs of compassion fatigue; long -term effects of compassion fatigue; and provide tools for managing compassion fatigue for self and others.
Objectives:
1. Recognize familiar care partner roles while expanding one’s understanding of less common care partner roles. (Adult children of aging parents, extended family members, friends, direct care providers.)
2. Learn common triggers of compassion fatigue for both traditional and non-traditional roles.
3. Identify Healthy vs. Unhealthy communication techniques with:
- Paid care partners
- Family
- Friends
4. Learn how to apply and model healthy self–care by learning which coping techniques work best for you or others.

Parking Instructions:
Guests can be dropped off at the North Entrance of the church, under the porte cochere. The covered entrance is at the Wallace Building, where DAPS representatives will be present to guide guests to the event, located in the Great Hall. There is limited handicap and senior parking spaces available, immediately in front of the porte cochere. We recommend arriving early to secure these spaces. Doors will open at 10:30.
